About Al Nahda
Al Nahda is a non-profit organization founded in 1963 that works to empower Saudi women economically and socially by implementing a number of targeted development projects and programs.
In June 2019, Al Nahda officially received accreditation from the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for consultative status as a non-governmental organization.

Al Nahda Society was founded in Riyadh in 1382 AH and registered with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development under number (2) on 1/3/1383 AH corresponding to 23/7/1963.

Founder & Supreme President
HRH Princess Sara Alfaisal Al Saud is the pre-eminent founder and leader of non-profit activity of Saudi social development. Princess Sara is the sixth child of His Majesty the late King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the eldest child of the late Queen Effat and the wife of HRH the late Prince Mohammad bin Saud bin AbdulAziz. Throughout her life, she has tirelessly worked to fulfill her parents’ dedication to national advancement through women’s empowerment. Building sustainable institutions in the fields of social work and education, Princess Sara has been a driving force for change and development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for close to six decades.
For all her experience and efforts to bring about positive change in Saudi society, Princess Sara has been awarded by many different entities among them The King Abdul Aziz Award in the First Degree, The Chaillot Prize, The Prince Mohammad Bin Fahad Prize, and by the AlGhad Youth Association. Also, She was honored as one of the exceptional personalities by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak. Princess Sara was appointed by the late King Abdullah in 2013 as one of the first in a group of women to be sworn in to the Shoura Council.
